Business and Information Technology:
The
courses in the Business and Information Technology Education Department
provide two pathways for students. The business pathway introduces
students to the field of business and management. The information
technology pathway allows students to explore the growing field of
information technology. These courses are integral for post-secondary
training and careers in these fields. The information technology
pathway takes place in a unique real-world laboratory setting. All of
the skills that used to be taught in discreet classes are now combined
in a work related lab setting. Students progress through levels defined
as 120 hours of course work. Students employ computer applications,
multimedia, and business skills to produce projects in response to
client orders.
The business and
information technology departments will address Technology Standards as
defined in the National Education Technology Plan and the federal
government's SCANS Report (What Work Requires of Schools). The Joint
Council of the State Board of Education and the Ohio Board of Regents is
developing standards for Ohio. This department and its courses will
lead the way for Harding High School's commitment to integrate the
technology standards into the existing curriculum across subject areas.
